Pallet-Track member JMS of Doncaster signs deal with Cromar Building Products

Two growing Yorkshire businesses have cemented their future partnership with a supply chain agreement to distribute an innovative new range of building products into the UK market.

Cromar Building Products, based in Whitley Bridge, has signed a deal with JMS of Doncaster to distribute its new AlphaChem range across the UK and Ireland.

JMS has invested in new trucks and trailers worth more than £400,000 so far in 2019 and as part of the deal, one lorry and trailer are fitted with Cromar-branded curtain sides promoting the new product range of sealants, adhesives, building chemicals and decorative sundries, which it distributes into independent builders’ merchants.

Cromar, which has made its name selling roofing products, moves up to 100 pallets a day on average, so turned to JMS, a member of the Pallet-Track network, to handle shipping.

JMS now distributes almost 50 per cent of all Cromar’s delivery requirements every week.

John Sheard, managing director of JMS of Doncaster, said: “Our relationship with Cromer goes back many years and we’re delighted to have teamed up again to ensure their new range is shipped quickly, efficiently and safely to its destinations.

“We’re delighted to have a very visual reminder of the partnership on the side of our new trucks, which looks great and can only help us grow together.”

Cromar Building Products was established in 1997 and has remained in independent ownership ever since.

It manufactures more than 70 per cent of its product range at its facility in Whitley Bridge and recently acquired a 47,000 sq ft warehouse to allow it to hold even more stock.

Dan Marshall, sales director at Cromar Building Products, said: “Our products are shipped all over the UK and Ireland so using JMS and the Pallet-Track network is the best way of getting our products from A to B.

“We launched the AlphaChem range in autumn 2018 as a new division of the company and it has been a great success to date.

“The potential is huge, because most of the market is supplied by big corporate entities charging big prices. We’re a family-run firm which means we can move quickly in the marketplace.”

Nigel Parkes, founder and managing director of Pallet-Track, said: “Effective collaboration is key to the success of all of our members and this is a perfect example of this in operation. Both Cromar and JMS owe their joint success to building a strong partnership from the ground up.”
